Danny Nightingale is home for Christmas with his family
JAILED SAS hero Danny Nightingale gently guides his daughter Mara as she hangs her homemade angel on the tree.
For his wife Sally, five-year-old Mara and her sister Alys, two, the best Christmas gift of all is having him home in Crewe, Cheshire.
It is a day Danny felt would not come as he lay in his cell for three weeks, torn from his family for a crime he says he did not commit.
The sniper instructor sergeant, 37, said: "I really can't believe I'm holding my children and putting up Christmas decorations.
"When I was in jail in Colchester, I knew at the back of my mind that this might be the first Christmas I would ever spend apart from my family."
Danny received 18 months' military detention four weeks ago for possessing a pistol and ammunition. He says he was unaware the gun was in his possession because it had been sent to him with other kit after he returned from Iraq.

An appeal cut his sentence to 12 months and suspended it. Sally, 38, added: "We have to continue the fight to clear his name."
