Shoppers back Lidl as a brand they trust
DISCOUNT grocery chain Lidl is poised to become a superbrand rivalling Coca-Cola and Google as an instantly recognised and trusted name, say industry experts.
Known for its no-frills approach, the supermarket has seen sales rise by 10 per cent in the past year.
More than a quarter of people chose Lidl as the next superbrand in a YouGov poll for ad agency Bordello.
Bordello’s Scott Wilkinson said: “Shoppers seem more comfortable with the idea of a supermarket that sells simply good value produce rather than an ideal or a lifestyle.”
Experts also predict Prince Harry will become a superbrand in the mould of a Richard Branson or David Beckham.
They have used their personalities to forge successful careers. The Prince has enjoyed a popularity surge since his tour of the Caribbean in March.
