Victoria’s secrets
A BLACK dress, hat, bodice and silk undergarments belonging to Queen Victoria, dating back to the 1880s, have been found in a cardboard box.
The royal clothes were discovered in a house near Derby after the owner, who bought them at auction some years ago, died. They are expected to fetch thousands at a new auction this month – with the dress going for at least £1,000.
Charles Hanson, of Hansons Auctioneers of Etwall, Derbyshire, said: “It’s royal catwalk. You do not expect to unearth such important items in a cardboard box.”
