THATCHER'S children have fond memories of Cabbage Patch Dolls, Chewits sweets and roller skates, according to a survey.
People aged 30 to 45 who were at school during the former Prime Minister’s time in office, also said that swing-ball, dominoes and Hula Hoops crisps reminded them of happy times.
Telephones with dials also transported them back to the Seventies and Eighties, as did freeze pops and video game Pac-Man.
Experts say that during tough times consumers tend to be drawn to brands and items they know and trust from their past.
Study participants were quizzed about their positive memories of a variety of items.
Dr David Lewis, who led the study for Chewits, said: “In times of austerity, childhood memories can instill a feeling of comfort.”
