Dog’s life for fox who is henpecked by chickens
THIS cunning fox has made herself top dog – after she was adopted as a pet.
Roxy the fox goes for walks on a lead, eats from a dog bowl and plays with her canine chums.
She walks around the shops with owner Geoff Grewcock and lounges around the house showing the dogs who’s boss.
Geoff, 61, a grandfather of one, says the 10-year-old has no hunting instinct at all and won’t eat raw meat.
“You can put her in with the chickens and she would just sit there while they peck her,” he said.
Roxy was taken in by Geoff at his animal rescue centre in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, after she was found tied to railings.
He intended to release her into the wild but realised she was tame and didn’t know how to hunt. So he set about looking after her at his home, giving her a pen in the garden. Soon she was playing with his pet dogs and going walkies with them. Geoff said: “She teases the dogs by sticking her rubber bone through the wire of her pen and snatching it back when they try to eat it.

“You can stroke her and people make a fuss of her when they see her out walking. Once she jumped into a pushchair with a two-year-old and curled up asleep. The little girl’s mum knew her and didn’t mind at all.”
