RAF flypast brings official Royal Wedding celebrations to a close
A SPECTACULAR flypast of Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane aircraft brought a close to the official Royal Wedding celebrations today.
As the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - formerly Prince William and Kate Middleton - kissed for a second time on the balcony at Buckingham Palace, the RAF planes roared by in a traditional tribute.
The aircraft were from the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and were accompanied by two Tornado and Two Typhoon jets.
Isn't it all amazing?
The moment was particularly poignant for Prince William, a serving search and rescue pilot in RAF himself and patron of the Battle of Britain Memorial Fight.
The crowds cheered as the jets thundered past and Kate, clearly impressed, told William 'They're flying in formation'.
Earlier the Queen had signalled her own approval of the day's events, casually remarking to a courtier: "Isn't it all amazing?"
