Crossbow killer told: Say where you hid Susan Griffiths
THE family of Crossbow Cannibal Stephen Griffiths’ first known victim say they will be haunted all their lives because he refuses to tell them what he did with her body.
Susan Rushworth, 43, was beaten to death with a hammer before Griffiths butchered her.
An inquest heard yesterday that police believe he dumped her remains in the River Aire at Bradford, West Yorkshire.
Griffiths, 41, is serving life after admitting murdering Susan and two other prostitutes.
But since he confessed, hinting that he might have killed three more women, Griffiths has not spoken. Susan’s daughter Kirsty comforted her grandmother Christine Thompson yesterday as they heard Bradford coroner Roger Whittaker record that she was unlawfully killed.
After the hearing the family said in a statement: “This is a hard time as another Mother’s Day approaches and Susan is not with us.”
