Heartbreak as pub in UK village announces sudden closure after 150 years
Locals have been devastated by the bombshell announcement

A pub has announced its sudden closure after serving punters for more than 150 years. The Gronant Inn in the village of Gronant in Flintshire, Wales, opened in the 1870s and has been at the heart of the community ever since.
The pub posted on social media that this weekend will be the last it is open for business due to structural problems. In its Facebook post, Gronant Inn said: "Due to a dilapidation report coming back with structural problems, the pub will be shutting, so this weekend will be the last weekend the Gronant Inn will ever be open for business."

Locals were then invited to "drink the pub dry" on Saturday and Sunday (June 6-7) and thanked for their support.
The post prompted dozens of replies, with Facebook users expressing their sorrow at the news.
One wrote: "This is so sad. Never thought I'd see this in my lifetime. I went in there with my Dad for my first pint with him at 18 years old in 1973.
"Back in those days, the place was so popular and especially so in the summer when visitors would cram in there to experience the essence of a village inn.
"I hope someone will come and take it on and restore its legendary reputation. So many wonderful memories."
Another posted: "This is so sad. Many happy memories in there. Have a drink for me this weekend."
A third commented: "The closure is a massive loss to the village and it's inhabitants.
"Gavin and the family have worked hard at the pub for the last seven years, just a shame that can't continue."
And a fourth said: "I've literally got tears in my eyes reading this. Such sad news."
The pub was acquired by Admiral Taverns in 2019. Admiral Taverns has been approached for comment.
