Tiger Wood's gems lose sparkle for Elin
THE former wife of Tiger Woods is selling off all the jewellery the shamed golf star lavished on her during their five-year marriage.
Elin Nordegren, 30, has instructed auctioneers Sotheby’s to sell the treasures, thought to include her £200,000 antique diamond engagement ring. The jewellery could fetch £1million.
One of her friends said: “The jewellery reminds her of the marriage and she is over that. Having the diamonds reminds her of the marriage and she is now moving on with her life.
“They were meant to have been bought by a loving husband but now Elin knows they were probably more out of guilt for all his cheating. They mean nothing to her.”
Apart from the engagement ring, insiders say other items in the sale include a diamond necklace with matching earrings. Elin no longer wears her gold wedding band, although this is not understood to be among the items for sale.
Woods lavished jewels on his Swedish-born wife after becoming the richest sports star in the world, earning more than £500million.
Elin received a £65million divorce settlement when her husband’s multiple affairs were exposed. They included flings with porn film stars and a waitress at his local pancake restaurant in Orlando, Florida.
He lost several big sponsorship deals and has since struggled to retain his form on the golf course.
Elin is expected to move into a new home in Jupiter, Florida, next year.
Although he travels the world to play golf, Woods is based in Florida and Elin says she wants him to keep in touch with their children Sam, aged three, and one-year-old Charlie.
