BMW forced to recall 345,000 luxury cars after brake problems
MOTORING giant BMW has been forced into a global recall of 345,000 luxury cars – including hundreds of Rolls-Royces in the UK – because of brake problems.
The move involves more than 10,500 BMWs in the UK and 905 Rolls-Royces.
Around 200,000 cars in North America and a further 145,000 worldwide will be recalled to stop leaks that could develop in the braking system.

Those affected include BMW 5, 6 and 7 Series vehicles powered by V8 and V12 engines from 2002 to 2010 – as well as 6,000 Rolls-Royce Phantoms from 2001 to 2009.
The German car maker admitted the leak could lead to a vacuum loss and a reduction in power braking assistance.
BMW said: “We are writing to owners asking them to arrange a service appointment. There have been no reported accidents or injuries.”
About 180,000 UK Toyotas were recalled earlier this year due to sticking accelerator pedals.
