Pensioner veteran rages at Labour for 'turning backs' on elderly after Winter Fuel axe
Labour's decision to slash the Winter Fuel Payment is 'reckless and wrong', warns a leading charity.
Labour has been slammed for "turning their backs" on vulnerable pensioners as the government plans to reduce the Winter Fuel Payment.
This comes after Ofgem - the energy regulator - the energy price cap would be going up, meaning average household bills are set to rise by almost £150 from October across England, Scotland and Wales.
Army veteran pensioner Charles Beckham took aim at Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer for "not caring about people", particularly older people who have "paid in all their lives".
Beckham told GB News: "It's going to hit me just the same as it will hit everybody else. I'm not on benefits, I am a pensioner. I have an Army pension because I did 22 years in the army, so I can't claim benefits.
"In order to get benefits, you need to have an income of less than £215 a week, which I can't see anybody living on that."
