Firefighters are rushing to tackle a factory blaze as smoke billows out and is seen for miles over a UK city.
The gigantic plume of black smoke can be seen over Southampton seeming to originate from an industrial building near St Mary's Stadium.
Emergency services have been contacted as crews scramble to get to the fire that is affecting a warehouse on Melbourne Street.
The surrounding roads are closed as fire crews deal with the incident.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service said: "Crews are tackling a fire affecting industrial units near St Mary's football stadium.
"People in the area are advised to keep windows and doors closed Some roads local to the incident are closed and people are advised to avoid the area to allow movements of emergency vehicles."
People have taken to X to give their accounts of the fire.

Search and rescue team drafted in to help with blaze
A search and rescure team has confirmed it has been drafted in to help in the efforts to tackle the Southampton blaze.
The fire started earlier this afternoon in industrial units near to the city's football ground.
Hampshire & IOW USAR Team said on social media platform X: "PAGER ALERT.
"Time of call: 18:55.
"USAR personnel have been called to assist with the large commercial fire, in Southampton.
"We have been requested to provide a structural monitoring function."

100 firefighters desperately tackling Southampton blaze
100 firefighters are tackling the fire in a Southampton warehouse.
The latest update from the fire service said that there are 100 of its staff working hard to bring the blaze under control.
A spokesperson for the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service said: “We’ve got more than 100 personnel onsite working extremely hard to tackle a well-developed fire near to St Mary’s Stadium in Southampton.
“We have been working closely with our partner agencies and Southampton Football Club throughout this incident, with tonight’s scheduled match postponed.
"We expect to have a presence on the scene overnight and into tomorrow. We ask that the public avoid the area due to a number of road closures in place, and that local residents keep windows and doors closed because of the large smoke plume.”

The Southampton VS Preston football match has been cancelled as a result of blaze near the city's ground.
Southampton FC's statement said: "Southampton Football Club regrets to announce that tonight’s Sky Bet Championship match against Preston North End has been postponed.
"The decision was made after consultation with the local authorities and emergency services after a major fire broke out in a building next to the St Mary’s Stadium site earlier today.
"The incident has caused significant disruption in the area with road closures around the stadium still in place as fire crews continue to deal with the situation.
"We are grateful for the cooperation of Preston and the EFL, and while we appreciate the disappointment fans may feel, we hope they will understand the need to put the safety of supporters and staff of both clubs first.
"The game will be postponed to a new date, which will be announced in due course, and all tickets for tonight’s match will be valid for the rearranged fixture."
An EFL statement added: "The EFL can confirm that tonight’s Sky Bet Championship fixture between Southampton and Preston North End has been postponed as a result of health and safety concerns following a fire nearby St Mary’s Stadium.
“The League will liaise with both Clubs to determine a suitable date to reschedule the fixture, with details to be confirmed in due course.”
Paramedics on scene as person treated for smoke inhalation
As a fire rages on in Southampton the ambulance service has confirmed that one person is being treated for "minor smoke inhalation."
A South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) spokesperson said: “We have our full Hazardous Area Response Team, an Operational Commander, a Tactical Advisor and an ambulance at this incident and are working with colleagues from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service and Hampshire Police in a joint response.
“So far, only one patient with minor smoke inhalation has been assessed and treated at the scene and we remain on standby to support HFRS if needed as is usual procedure when they are tackling a blaze of this size.”

Pupils evacuated as Southampton fire rages on
Children have been evacuated from a primary school as a fire rages on in a Southampton warehouse.
Pupils at St Mary's Primary School in Southampton were taken out of the school after a build up of smoke over the school's playgrounds.
They were taken to St Johns Primary & Nursery School on French Street around 1.45pm.
Parents were asked to pick up their children from the other school, reports Southern Daily Echo.

The fire, near St Mary's football stadium is visible from Cowes and Ryde.

More fire engines are scrambling to tackle a blaze in Southampton.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service has issued another update, reports Southern Daily Echo.
It said: "Additional fire engines are now heading to the scene to make it up to 18.
"The fire is currently involves four industrial units.
"There is lots of smoke and people the area are reminded to keep doors and windows closed."

Firefighters working "desperately" to tackle blaze
Eyewitnesses have called the Southampton blaze a "daunting" sight and said firefighters were working "desperately" to tackle it.
Reporting for local paper - The Southern Daily Echo - the journalist said: "Firefighters were already desperately working to fight the fire. Meanwhile warehouse personnel tried to remove stacks of pallets from near the fire.
"There was a sense of awe and fear at the size of the cloud of smoke hanging over our heads and people held their phones in the air to try take pictures – us included."

She said: "The flames are high and it's getting worse.
