Armed police rush to Sheffield Job Centre as teen 'seriously injured'
A large cordon has been erected after reports of armed individuals becoming embroiled in an "altercation".
An 18-year-old is in hospital with serious injuries after an altercation between "armed men" in a UK city centre. Armed officers reportedly sealed off a large part of Sheffield city centre after the men started fighting this afternoon.
South Yorkshire Police said the teenager has now been taken to hospital for treatment and a firearm has been recovered from the scene. People had seen a reported disturbance on Bank Street at 2.10pm, where it's claimed individuals were carrying weapons. An armed unit is said to have responded.
An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and is being questioned by police.

Teen arrested on suspicion of firearms offences
A teenager has now been arrested in connection to the armed altercation that took place in Sheffield city centre this afternoon.
Posting on X a spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: "UPDATE: Officers investigating an armed fight in Sheffield have made an arrest.
"At 2:10pm today (22 December) we received a report of a disturbance on Bank Street.
"Armed officers attended and scenes remain in place on Bank Street and High Street.
"An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and is being questioned by police. Enquiries are ongoing."
They added: "If you have information which could assist officers, please contact us online or via 101 and quote incident number 442 of 22 December."
Police confirm they are investigating at two scenes
A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson has confirmed that they are investigating at two scenes.
It follows an armed altercation between two men in Sheffield City Centre.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "There are two scenes still in place on one on Bank Street outside the Job Centre and one on High Street."
