Man survives as his home is destroyed in a shock 'gas blast'
A man has been airlifted to hospital after a suspected gas explosion destroyed a bungalow.
Flames were seen shooting from its heavily damaged roof as fire crews rushed to help.
A fire service spokesman said just the one injury had been reported.
But residents from 12 other homes had to be evacuated as a precaution and others had been told to keep their doors and windows shut in New Mills, Derbyshire.

The fire service spokesperson said: “A man has been taken to hospital by air ambulance following an explosion.
“The exact cause continues to be investigated.”
