England football hero Nobby Stiles has a stroke
ENGLAND World Cup winner Nobby Stiles was recovering in hospital yesterday after suffering a stroke.
The 68-year-old, famous for his toothless smile and comb-over hairstyle, collapsed earlier this week at his home in Manchester.
The tough-tackling former Manchester United midfielder is best known as one of England’s winning 1966 team.
He was the driving force behind their famous 4-2 victory against Germany in the final. And he will be forever remembered for his touchline jig while holding the coveted trophy.
Stiles, whose real name is Norbert, was forced to cancel a public appearance at a pub in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, where he was due to host an event ahead of England’s crucial match against Algeria tonight.
