Dorset police alerted to body found in Poole harbour
The family of a 20-year-old man from Poole, who was reported missing on March 3, has been informed by the police.
A body has been found in Poole harbour. Dorset Police received a report of a body in the water at 5.03pm on Wednesday, March 29. The body has not yet been formally identified.
Dorset Police said in a statement that the death is not being treated as suspicious and HM Coroner has been notified.
The next of kin of 20-year-old Jack Rogers from Poole, who was reported missing on March 3, has been informed of the latest development.
They are being supported by officers, according to Dorset Police.
Mr Rogers was last seen in West Street, Poole, at about 10.30pm on March 2.
Dorset Police launched an urgent public appeal to find him after he was reported missing. They received the report after Mr Rogers failed to turn up for work.
Inspector Gareth Bishop from Dorset Police said at the launch of the appeal: "We believe Jack has been very upset recently and since his disappearance his family has not heard from him.
"We are becoming very concerned for Jack’s welfare as he has also not turned up for work on Friday as expected."
A day after the appeal was launched, police closed off a footpath on the Twin Sails Bridge in Poole Quay as part of their search.
Police said at the time Mr Rogers may have entered the water near the bridge, according to Dorset Live.
