Met Police officer charged with assaulting 14-year-old after ‘altercation’
A police officer has been charged with assaulting a 14-year-old girl.
Serving Metropolitan Police officer, PC Paul Bewsey, has been charged with common assault of a 14-year-old. The officer, from the Metropolitan Police Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, is accused of common assault on the teenager in Brentwood, Essex.
The Met Police said the charge relates to "an altercation" on April 21, in Hanging Hill Lane, Brentwood.
Bewsey, who was charged by postal requisition on October 21, is on restricted duties.
He will appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
The Metropolitan Police's Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command provides officers for the Houses of Parliament and is tasked with protecting government ministers and providing advice on threat levels.
