North rail secures £11 BILLION boost
CASH to improve rail in the North has more than tripled to £11.5billion.
Transpennine Route Upgrades will deliver two more passenger trains an hour and slash journey times
It includes £1billion for the next phase of electrification between Manchester and York.
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said: “This is the single biggest investment any government has made in the railways. It’s right up there and probably beyond what the Victorians were doing.”
