Around the world the BBC is viewed as one of the most recognisable news broadcasters, boasting a plethora of programmes and talent. However, after it was confirmed last week that the licence fee would be frozen, speculation has emerged of whether cuts could be made to the services that the firm provides. With questions also looming over if this could affect the wage structure of the BBC’s highest earners, Express.co.uk takes a closer look at exactly who makes the top 10 of this list.
Readers should note that the following wages are correct as of the BBC’s annual report for 2021.
10.) Scott Mills: £375,000 - £379,999
Scott Mills is one of just two who made the top 10 that saw their salary for 2020 to 2021 increase compared with the previous year.
Well known for his appearances across Radio One and Two Mr Mills earned £345,000 - £349,999 between 2019 to 2020.

9.) Alan Shearer: £390,000 - £394,999
One of the BBC’s most prominent football pundits, appearing on its Match of the Day and FA Cup coverage.
The former professional footballer’s pay remained fixed with the previous 12-month-period.
8.) Vanessa Feltz: £390,000 - £394,999
Radio Two Early Breakfast Show presenter Vanessa Feltz saw her wages marginally drop from £405,000 to £409,999 in 2021.
7.) Lauren Laverne: £395,000 - £399,999
The radio DJ scored at seventh place on this list with her annual salary also remaining unchanged from the year previously.
6.) Stephen Nolan: £405,000 - £409,999
Heard across radio airwaves in Northern Ireland on programmes such as The Nolan Show on Radio Ulster, Mr Nolan’s pay packet grew from £390,000 to £394,999 to his current salary in 2021.

5.) Fiona Bruce: £405,000 - £409,999
Marking the countdown of the top five highest-paid presenters for the BBC is Fiona Bruce, who alongside hosting the popular politics show Question Time also presents for BBC One.
4.) Huw Edwards: £425,000 - £429,999
BBC News at Six and News at 10 presenter Huw Edwards ranks in fourth place, despite taking a wage cut of around £40,000 last year.
3.) Steve Wright: £465,000 - £469,999
The voice of BBC Radio Two’s Steve Wright in the Afternoon and Steve Wright's Sunday Love Songs pocketed just shy of the £475,000 to £479,999 he was paid in 2020.
2.) Zoe Ball: £1,130,000 - £1,134,999
The first name on this list to earn more than £1 million annually, Zoe Ball hosts her own breakfast show on BBC Radio Two.
1.) Gary Lineker: £1,360,000 - £1,364,999
Coming out on top as the highest paid presenter at the BBC is Match of the Day host Gary Lineker.
Among other programmes, Mr Lineker also presents coverage of the broadcaster’s annual Sports Personality of the Year awards.
For his work in 2019 to 2020, he was paid somewhere in the region of £1,750,000 to £1,754,999.
