London school evacuated over bomb threat – panic as children forced to flee classrooms
A LONDON school has been evacuated this afternoon following a report of a bomb threat.
The Met Police confirmed officers were called shortly after 3pm to Clissold Road in Stoke Newington after being alerted to a “report of a bomb threat”. The incident is reported to have taken place at Stoke Newington School and Sixth Form in the London Borough of Hackney.
The force said officers took precautionary measures and evacuated the school, nearby homes and a leisure centre.
The Met said an investigation remains ongoing.
Several officers have been deployed and a number of police cars are seen parked on the high road.
Sniffer dogs are also said to be at the scene.
A large police cordon is in place around Clissold Road and Church Street.
A number of worried users have shared their concerns on Twitter.
Thomas Austin tweeted: “What's afoot at 'Stoke Newington School'?
“Lots of police.”
He later added: “Clissold Rd is taped off at Church St. Several Police cars present, sniffer dogs deployed. All seems calm.”

The school, nearby properties and a leisure centre have been evacuated as a precaution.
Enquiries are ongoing.
Shortly before 4pm, the Twitter account with the handle @welovestokey wrote: “Stoke Newington School evacuated due to bomb scare, park end of Clissold Road cordoned off #N16 #stokey #stokenewington #hackney.”
In a statement, the Met Police said: “Police were called to a school in Clissold Road, Stoke Newington at 15:16hrs on Tuesday, 14 September following a report of a bomb threat.
“Officers attended. The school, nearby properties and a leisure centre have been evacuated as a precaution.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”

Shortly before 6pm, police confirmed a full search has been completed and all buildings have now reopened.
Hackney Police tweeted: “The scene in #ClissoldRoad #StokeNewington has been closed after a full search was carried out.
“All buildings in the area that were closed have now been reopened.”
