A MAN has died following a collision on the M11 earlier this morning, Saturday 17 July.
M11: Traffic queues on motorway following incident in Essex
Emergency services were called shortly after 10.05am to the southbound carriageway between junctions 8 for Bishop's Stortford and 9 for Newmarket. The driver of a small vehicle transporter, which was carrying a white van, became trapped after the transporter overturned.
Paramedics tended to the man but sadly he died at the scene.
The northbound side of the M11 reopened earlier, but the southbound side is expected to remain closed for a number of hours.
This is while forensic examination work is carried out and a diesel spill is cleared.
Essex Police said: "We are working hard with our partners to turn around traffic trapped in tailbacks as fast as possible and to get bottled water to drivers.

The M11 has seen a string of crashes over recent weeks.
Just days before this latest incident, motorists faced rush-hour chaos as part of the motorway was closed due to a severe crash.
The northbound carriageway was closed between junction 7 for Harlow and junction 8 for Bishop's Stortford.
It caused severe delays for those heading for Stansted Airport, which is also just off junction 8.
