Dagenham fire: Around 100 firefighters tackle industrial blaze in London
AROUND 100 firefighters have been called to tackle a blaze at an industrial laundrette in Dagenham.
At 11:59pm on Thursday, London Fire Brigade were called to Selinas Lane in Dagenham. The fire has engulfed half of an industrial laundrette in the area. The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
In a statement, the brigade said: “Fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters have been called to a fire at an industrial laundrette and warehouse on Selinas Lane in Dagenham.
"Half of the two-storey building is alight.
“The Brigade's 999 Control Officers have taken 19 calls to the fire.
“The Brigade was called at 2359.
“Fire crews from Dagenham, Ilford, Romford, Barking and surrounding fire stations are at the scene.”
Station Commander Paul Eastland, who is at the scene, said: "Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are working incredibly hard at the scene of a warehouse fire.
"The fire appears to have started on the ground floor of a laundrette and crews swiftly gained access and are removing gas cylinders as a precaution, as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.
"Road closures are in place whilst firefighters work to make the scene safe."
