Bomb threat at Met police academy: Panicked officer locks down area and calls for backup
POLICE are responding to a bomb threat outside Hendon Police College, London, this morning following reports of a suspicious vehicle.
The suspicious vehicle, a red Vauxhall Corsa, is located on Aerodrome Road and officers have cordoned off the road and the surrounding area of Beaufort Park, Colindale. A seperate cordon has beel placed around the vehicle, with an eyewitness saying the area was locked down "in a panic".
An eyewitness wrote on Twitter: "Bomb threat met police academy Where officers lockdown surrounding area with lone police officer near the suspect vehicle (red car) clearly in a panic and calling on radio for urgent assistance to deal with members of the public."
Officers have also been heard telling passers by "you can stand there if you want to get blown up or move back", according to Alamy news.
Photos from the scene show several police officers behind a police cordon in the deserted street.
A spokesperson from Met Police told Express.co.uk: "Police were called at around 1030hrs on Saturday, 17 April, to a suspicious vehicle in Aerodrome Road, Hendon.
"Cordons were put in place while the registered keeper was contacted.
"The incident has been stood down."
