London stabbing: Air ambulance scrambled after broad daylight attack as children walk home
A STABBING in Hackney on Monday sparked an air ambulance response.
The Met Police were called to Marlborough Avenue shortly after 4.30pm following reports of an assault. Officers and paramedics rushed to the scene and found a man, believed to be 54-years-old, had been stabbed. He was taken to a nearby hospital for his injuries.
The force said a 37-year-old man was arrested at the scene.
Images shared on social media showed a police van and ambulance blocking the middle of a residential street.
An air ambulance was seen landing in a nearby field.
Earlier one user wrote on Twitter: “Air ambulance in attendance.... No further news. Police and ambulances on scene. All while parks and streets full of school kids…”
The police have urged anyone with information to come forward.
In a statement, the Met Police said: “Police were called to Marlborough Avenue, Hackney, at 16:38hrs on Monday, 22 March following reports of an assault.
“Officers attended with London Ambulance Service paramedics.
“They found a man, believed to be aged 54, who had been stabbed.
“He has been taken to an east London hospital and we await an update on his condition.
“A 37-year-old man was arrested at the scene.”
