London emergency: Police rush to 'major' incident- area near Rotherhithe Tunnel closed off
A WOMAN was pronounced dead in Surrey Quays, London, after she was hit by a lorry in Hawkstone Road.

The Metropolitan police were called to reports of a truck collision with a pedestrian in Hawkstone Road, London, at around 11.30am today. London Ambulance Service also attending alongside the police. A woman, believed to be in her 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
No arrests have been made at the moment while police are working to inform her next of kin.
Road closures are in place.
A Met Police spokesperson said: "One exit at Surrey Quays Overground Station has been closed.
"However, the station remains open and operating through other points of entry and egress."
One person tweeted saying they do not know what is happening but “seems like a major incident”.
When asked where the incident was happening, they tweeted: “Surrey Quays.
“And the tunnel, either coincidentally or accidentally, is also closed.”
Rotherhithe Tunnel is closed for five days and nights until January 16 to repair the fire safety system.
