London park attack: Woman forced to fight off five men in attempted rape in Burgess Park
A WOMAN was sexually assaulted after being attacked by five men while walking through Burgess Park in London.
The Metorpolitan Police are investigating the attempted rape of the woman in the south London park in Southwark and are appealing to the public for information. The victim was walking through Burgess Park on Albany Road between 2am and 3am on June 13 when she was attacked by five men. Police said a "prolonged struggle ensued" and the woman managed to fight them off.
She was sexually assaulted during the attack.
The Met said one of the suspects is said to have been wearing white trainers, light denim jeans and a red hooded jacket, while his hair was plaited.
A second suspect is said to have been aged in his 30s.
The force added officers from the Central South BCU are investigating.
They are carrying out "extensive enquiries".
The Met said: "Police investigating the attempted rape of a woman in a south London park are appealing to the public for information.
"Between the hours of 02:00hrs and 03:00hrs on Saturday, 13 June, a woman was walking through Burgess Park on Albany Road in Southwark, when she was attacked by five men.
"A prolonged struggle ensued and the woman managed to fight them off.
"She was sexually assaulted during the attack.
"One of the suspects is said to have been wearing white trainers, light denim jeans and a red hooded jacket. His hair was plaited.
"A second suspect is said to have been aged in his 30s.
"Officers from the Central South BCU are investigating and have carried out extensive enquiries."
The Met is urging anyone with information about the attack, or who may possibly have dashcam footage from the surrounding roads during the relevant timeframe to call police on 101 quoting reference Cad 1380/13Jun20.
