Oh dear, Boris! Johnson red-faced after accidentally hiding TRUMP praise in Biden tweet
BORIS JOHNSON congratulated President-elect Joe Biden after winning the election but it seems a different message for Donald Trump may have been previously curated.
US Election: Boris Johnson congratulates president-elect Biden
In a tweet, No10 congratulated Mr Biden and his running mate, Kamala Harris. Posted at 5.49pm on November 7, it read: "Congratulations to Joe Biden on his election as President of the United States and to Kamala Harris on her historic achievement. "The US is our most important ally and I look forward to working closely together on our shared priorities, from climate change to trade and security.”
However, when looking closer at the tweet, it appears to show the remains of a previous message, intended for the incumbent President, Mr Trump.
In faded writing, the image shows part of a message congratulating Mr Trump on winning the election and therefore a second term in office.
In the second paragraph, the words "second term" and "the future of" can be vaguely seen.
No10 later confirmed this was due to a technical error in preparing the graphics ahead of the announcement of the vote.
The spokesperson added: "As you’d expect, two statements were prepared in advance for the outcome of this closely contested election.
"A technical error meant that parts of the alternative message were embedded in the background of the graphic.”
"If it's on the screen too long it leaves a digital imprint.

"So then someone created this image in Photoshop and exported it incorrectly, so the screenburn of the other window showed through.
"Ever had a TV on so long, when you turn it off you can still see the silhouettes of words? It's like that.
"Basically they were possibly writing something else about Trump and it was on his screen too long, so it burnt though.
"Another possibility is that the image was sloppily edited after being saved as a congratulatory message to Trump.

'No US-UK deal. PERIOD' Biden ally shatters hopes of new trade deal [Video]
"Once the designer realised they needed to switch to Biden, they clumsily edited it after it had been finished - but some small 'fractals' remained."
Mr Johnson was deemed a "friend" and "close ally" previously by the incumbent President.
Mr Trump was also an advocate of Brexit and had insisted a trade deal with the UK would be a priority for his administration.
In contrast, amid the uproar over the UK Internal Market Bill, Mr Biden insisted any trade deal would be impacted if the Good Friday Agreement is violated.
He insisted assurances must be made that no hard border will be placed on the Island of Ireland, or a trade deal would not take place.
Mr Biden also served as Vice-President under Barack Obama who insisted the UK would be at the back of the queue if the public voted for Brexit in 2016.
UK and US officials have met remotely to discuss trade talks this year.
Regardless of the current relationship between Mr Biden and the Prime Minister, a trade deal is not expected to be agreed until well into next year.
