Lambeth Bridge: Emergency services on scene following closure
The bridge was closed in both directions this afternoon while officers attended the scene. There were also cordons in place between Lambeth Palace Road and Millbank. BBC Radio London Travel tweeted just after 1pm: "#Lambeth Bridge is currently closed due to an Emergency Services incident.
"Expect long delays in the area, especially because of the #Vauxhall Bridge closure."
The Met Police confirmed the package was non-suspicous.
The Met Police said to London Live: "Police were called at 12.25pm on Tuesday, September 8 to reports of a suspicious item on Millbank, SW1P.
"Officers attended and nearby [roads] were closed.
"The object was later deemed non-suspicious and the incident was stood down at 1.13pm."
Express.co.uk has contacted the Met Police for more information.
It comes after police were called to attend reports of another suspicious package, which is not linked, in Manchester at the weekend.
