A MAN has been shot dead near a park in Penge, London.

A man in his 30s has been shot dead in Penge, London, marking the eighth fatal shooting this year. This weekend there was a string of bloodshed across the capital.
Metropolitan Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at around 2am this morning to reports of a man collapsed in Croydon Road, Penge. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives from Specialist Crime are investigating and believe the man died from gunshot wounds.
The man, who is believed to be in his 30s, has yet to be identified. No arrests have been made at this stage.
A crime scene remains in place in Croydon Road and a full forensic examination is ongoing.
The Met said in a statement: "A crime scene remains in place in Croydon Road and a full forensic examination is ongoing.
"There has been no arrest at this stage. Anyone with information that may assist police is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 1402/12jul.
"To remain anonymous please contact the independent charity Crimestoppers."
This latest shooting comes after a string of bloodshed over this weekend alone.
It is not thought any of the incidents were linked with today's.
In Wood Green, North London, a 23-year-old man was left in a critical condition following a knife attack.
He was rushed too hospital on Friday and is fighting for his life after suffering multiple stab wounds.

In Kennington, south London, a 30-year-old man died following another stabbing.
Police officers and the London Ambulance Service rushed to the scene on Saturday, but despite their best efforts the man was sadly pronounced dead.
A 26-year-old man arrived at hospital suffering from stab injuries which were believed to have been from the same incident.
He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Two teenage boys were also stabbed in Hackney on Saturday afternoon.
When police arrived arrived with paramedics three boys were detained.
Two of those teenagers were taken to hospital with injuries.
Another man was murdered in Poplar on Friday and another was taken to hospital following another stabbing.
Yesterday, Home Secretary Priti Patel called for more people to join the police to “help to keep us all safe”.
She wrote on Twitter: “Delighted to confirm that over 70,000 people have already applied to join the police.
“More officers on the streets will help to keep us all safe.
“If you want to make a difference in your community, I encourage you to apply today.”
