Mums tragic fight to save tot drowned in farm pond
A DISTRAUGHT mother fought in vain to save her daughter after finding her floating face down in a farm pond, an inquest was told.
Louise Wilshaw dragged 23-month-old Lauren to the bank and gave her the kiss of life but without success.
Lauren had wandered off while her mother cared for the two horses she kept in riding stables at the farm.
Ms Wilshaw had taken her there almost every day since she was born, the Leicester inquest heard.
Lauren was flown by air ambulance to Coventry’s Walsgrave Hospital where doctors fought a two-hour losing battle to save her.
Verdict: Accidental death.
Ms Wilshaw wrote on a tribute website: “Lauren – Mummy’s cheeky little monkey. 23 months wasn’t enough...My heart has gone with you.”
