Hull on lockdown: Humberside Police shoot man 'carrying gun' in street
HULL streets have been put on lockdown after police shot a man believed to be carrying a gun.

Officers rushed to Hessle Road following reports of a man in the street with a firearm. The suspect was said to be critical in hospital. The Independent Office of Police Conduct has been informed.
Assistant Chief Constable Paul Anderson said: “There is currently a scene in place on Hessle Road, Hull, following a police incident in the early hours of this morning.
“Officers were deployed to the area after a report was received that a man was in the street and believed to be in possession of a firearm.
“The man was shot by police during the incident and is currently in hospital in a critical condition. There were no other injuries sustained by anyone.
“A mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office of Police Conduct.”
Police arrived at Hessle Road at around 2am this morning. Opened officers opened fire on the suspect.
Pihotos from the scene show a grey SUV vehicle parked in the middle of the road with a blue tent at the rear of the vehicle while forensics comb the scene.
Sixpolice cars, including three large vans, block off the large 50 square metre cordon, which is in position from the Boulevard junction to Eton Street, reports Hull Live.
A cordon has been in place between Boulevard and West Dock Avenue since the shooting. The road is expected to be closed until this evening.
No one else was harmed in the incident, the force has said.
