Labour's 'committed to NHS' image is CRUMBLING against Tory pledges says Labour councillor
LABOUR BREXITEER Brendan Chilton warned the Labour Party that they were failing to show voters that they were the party that was “committed to the NHS.”
Election: Labour losing voter trust on NHS says Brendan Chilton
Labour Councillor of Ashford Brendan Chilton argued that some polling had seen that voters were beginning to trust the Tories more than the Labour Party with the NHS. While on the Express.co.uk’s Brexit: The Final Countdown Mr Chilton told host Rebecca Hutson that voters were not buying into the ploy that Labour had an “emotional connection” with the NHS. The Brexiteer explained that the vast pledges to the NHS could appear overly complicated and unclear thus failing to win support.
He said: “Where the Tories are I think starting to steal the thunder from the Labour Party a little bit is because of the figures being used regarding the NHS are so enormous it is so difficult for ordinary people to conceive them.
“Not just ordinary people but even people in politics.
“When you look at the spending commitments and the Tories you are talking hundreds of billions of pounds and most people haven’t even seen what a thousand pounds looks like on a table
“So to talk about these huge figures is very difficult.
“The other thing as well that I think is very important in this debate is that Labour consistently and always been more trusted on the NHS than the Conservatives.
“I think in this election there have been one or two polls that have shown that actually the Conservatives are more trusted.
“It is not necessarily because the public feels they are committed to it again it comes back to these fantastic figures.

“They just cannot relate the numbers Labour is talking about in terms of investment into what that actually translates to in service delivery.
“That said, I still believe that the Labour Party is far more trusted with the NHS in the public when it comes to the sort of emotional relationship with it.
“The people know that Labour governments will always do more for the NHS than Conservative governments.
“The Labour Party has got this sort of deep nostalgic emotional attachment to the NHS that I don’t think any other party has with any other part of the public sector.
Jeremy Corbyn has come under fire recently due to his insistence that Boris Johnson is willing to sacrifice the NHS to get a good Brexit trade deal with the US.
Both Boris Johnson and Donald Trump have insisted that the NHS would not be part of any trade deal for the UK post-Brexit.
