Grandmother’s horror after brutal attack by thief leaves her ‘paranoid’ when she goes out
A GRANDMOTHER has been left “paranoid” whenever she leaves her house and struggling to see after being brutally attacked by a thief in Nottingham.

Angela Leivers, 57, was knocked to the ground and kicked to the face in a horrific attempted mugging. Ms Leivers had left her home to withdraw money from the bank before going to purchase cigarettes.
Following that, the mum of four was attacked which has left her struggling to see from one eye.
Ms Leivers sustained cuts and bruises to her face from the attack.
The attack occurred on St Ann’s Well Road, at around 1.40am on Monday October 28.
Ms Leivers told Nottingham Live of the terrifying moment the thief attempted to mug her.
She said: “I was walking back when I felt a tug on my handbag.
“He started swearing at me.
"He was trying to get my bag. But there was no way I was letting go of that. My instinct kicked in.
"I got knocked to the ground and he kicked me in the face.”

Despite the attempts of the mugger, Ms Leivers managed to keep a hold of her handbag but spoke of the severe physical and mental trauma she has suffered as a result of the attack.
“I’ve had to have my face glued from it. It was awful.
"I've been left in a lot of pain.
“I get splitting headaches and can barely see out of my left eye.

"I had money in my bag, my new bus pass, house keys, all sorts."
Ms Leivers also suffers from arthritis in her knee after she fell and broke her knee cap in 2016.
However, using a crutch to help her walk, she managed to fight off the would-be mugger.
Although Ms Leivers did not get a clear look at the thief, she says that she was him run off after a car pulled up to where she was being attacked.

She added: “I have never been attacked before. I think Nottingham is alright until you get idiots like this.
"It has made me paranoid. I am looking over my shoulder now when I'm out.
“I go out at that time every week to get money out and cigarettes.
”He was over 6ft tall. I didn't get a proper look at him. It all happened so fast.”
Police are now appealing for any witnesses to the attack.
Detective Inspector Ruby Burrow, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The victim was taken to hospital with bruising and she was extremely shaken up by the incident.
"Officers are making enquiries in the area today and we would urge anyone who was in the area at the time, has CCTV or dash-cam footage, to get in touch as soon as possible."
