Tory MP 'disgusted with Parliament' admits he 'really regrets' voting Remain
CONSERVATIVE MP Robert Halfon revealed to TalkRadio's James Whale that he "really regrets" voting for Remain in the 2016 referendum, and if there was a Leave vote now he would "be out there on the barricades".
Brexit: Conservative MP Robert Halfon regrets voting Remain
Conservative Party MP Robert Halfon joined TalkRadio’s James Whale to reveal his changed opinion on Brexit. Mr Halfon, who had written articles defending the European Union before the 2016 referendum, now says that he “really regrets” voting Remain. The Harlow MP cited “democracy being betrayed” as the reason for his change of heart.
He said: “I voted Remain last time, very reluctantly but I was very worried.
“I was just not sure in many ways.
“But I really regret it because I’ve been disgusted at the way the establishment have behaved.
“And the way certain people in Parliament have behaved in doing everything possible to stop a democratic result.”

Mr Halfon continued: “One reason why I love our country is because I always thought we had the greatest Parliament in the world.
“I wanted to be an MP since the age of 10 in the greatest democracy in the world.
“We had a vote in 2016 and it’s not been respected.
“Believe me if there was a Leave vote now, I would be out there on the barricades.”

The MP added: “I’ve now come to the view that we’d probably be better off out but also predominantly because of democratic reasons.
“I just think that democracy has been betrayed and that millions of people who voted and respected the results.
“And all the Remainers at the time said they would respect the result have had their voting frustrate whether it’s by the Supreme Court or whether it’s a mechanism of Parliament and so on.”

Host James Whale also revealed that he was a former Remainer, telling Mr half that listening to his story was “like listening to mine”.
He said: “I was very outspoken as a Remainer for all sorts of reasons.
“The way the European Parliament did its election, which I thought was appalling.
“And then all the waste of money and all the bureaucracy.
“I’ve now decided anyway it is the beginnings of a crumbling empire, the European empire.”
