Jubilee Line: Severe delays cause long queues at Canary Wharf
The Jubilee line closed its services between Waterloo and Finchley Road, with severe delays on the rest of the line, after a man died "on the tracks" this afternoon. Emergency services were called to Green Park Tube station just after midday to reports of the incident. The man was pronounced "dead at the scene".
A statement from the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Green Park London Underground station at 12.16pm today, following a report of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service also attended, however, a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Officers are working to identify him.
"This incident is not currently being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Around 12.30pm, the Jubilee line wrote on Twitter: “There is No service between Waterloo and Finchley Road while the emergency services deal with a casualty on the track.
"Severe delays on the rest of the line. Updates to follow soon.”
The line later added: “We currently have no service between Waterloo and Finchley Road. There are severe delays to the rest of the line.
“This is while the emergency services deal with a casualty on the track.
“Tickets are being accepted on @LondonDLR and London buses.”
The Jubilee line has said it is “now running with severe delays across the entire line”.
But, Green Park Tube station remained closed to Jubilee line services following the earlier incident.
At 3.47pm the Jubilee line confirmed Green Park station had reopened once again to passengers.
But, despite the line reopening fully, severe delays continued well into rush hour.
One commuter struggling to get home via Canary Wharf underground station, told Express.co.uk: "It’s chaos down here. Far worse than normal rush hour."
