Waterloo incident: ‘Loud bangs’ spark panic - entire Jubilee Line suspended

The Jubilee Line was part suspended as a result of “loud bangs” and people running from the major London station, dubbed the Capital’s busiest. A video showed a crowd outside the station while police scrambled to the scene. One Twitter user claims she heard “gunshots” though police later said nothing suspicious was found.

Others claimed they had pulled into Waterloo station on the Jubilee Line and that they heard “three bangs and flashes and everyone panicked and left the train”.
In a statement British Transport Police said: “We’re at Waterloo station after reports of loud bangs on board a Jubilee Line train.
“Officers swept the train and tracks but nothing suspicious was found. The station was evacuated but has since reopened.
“The bangs are believed to have been an operational issue with the train.”
Commuters have complained that Tubes are stuck outside the station.
One said: “I was on the train and the driver said there were loud bangs and now we're stuck at Westminster.”
Another said: “Avoid Waterloo station, I was on the jubilee line platform and saw flashes of orange and heard 3 loud bangs from the middle of the platform. “Everyone ran out of the station screaming, saw people crying and collapsed from sprinting up the escalators. Whole station now closed."
The Jubilee Line runs through Waterloo from Stratford and through to Stanmore.

Earlier Transport for London said in a statement: “We currently have severe delays across the entire line.
“This is while we investigate a customer incident at Waterloo.
“Tickets will be accepted on London buses via any reasonable route."
