UK’s Dad’s Army idiots had no plan: EU’s DAMNING verdict on Brexit team who FAILED BRITAIN
TOUGH EU negotiators immediately spotted Theresa May’s Brexit team had absolutely NO PLAN and scathingly compared them to Dad’s Army’s Corporal Jones shouting “don’t panic!” - in a truly DAMNING indictment as to how Britain has been let down by rank political ineptitude at every level.
Brexit: UK are 'running around like idiots' says Timmermans
The extraordinary criticism was made by the EU Commission’s Vice-President, Frans Timmermans, in a jaw-dropping BBC Panorama interview exposing Britain’s Brexit dealings with the EU as shambolic, amateurish and weak. Mr Timmermans claimed Brussels bosses had been fearing the arrival of top negotiators from Britain – instead he said: “I thought ‘oh my God, they haven’t got a plan. “That was really shocking frankly because if you don’t have a plan, you know, we see it.”
He said initially the EU team feared the reputation for brilliance of Britain’s legendary civil service and added: “We thought they are so brilliant.
“We thought they would bring a Harry Potter-like book of tricks ahead of Brexit talks.”
But he added it soon became clear Britain would be a pushover – initial indications being “public utterances” by former Brexit Secretary David Davis.
Mr Timmermans said: “I saw him not coming to Brussels, not negotiating, grandstanding elsewhere.”
Mr Davis resigned in June 2018 in a protest against Mrs May’s Brexit proposal.

The interview with Mr Timmermans took place towards the end of March when it was clear the UK would miss the deadline to leave the EU.
Mrs May’s Brexit plans were previously rejected by Parliament three times, resulting in an extension for the UK’s EU departure and her resignation.
Mr Timmermans said: “Time is running out and you have don’t have a plan.
“It’s like Lance Corporal Jones you know ‘don’t panic, don’t panic’, running around like idiots.”
Boris Johnson says that he will ‘get Brexit DONE’
The Dutch socialist claimed he felt Boris Johnson, Conservative Party leader frontrunner, was “playing games” with his Brexit reflections.
Mr Timmermans’ comparison to the bumbling soldiers may add further tension if Mr Johnson is successful in his bid to become the new Prime Minister.
He has previously condemned Mr Johnson’s past comments comparing the EU to Adolf Hitler’s Third Reich.
The BBC Panorama documentary on Britain’s “Brexit Crisis” is due to air next week.
