M25 traffic latest: All lanes closed between J10 and J11 after crash
THE M25 came to a standstill after an accident involving a car and a van forced officers to hold traffic on all lanes.
Motorists remained trapped in their cars for approximately 30 minutes, between 9.05am and 9.30am following an accident in the fourth lane on the M25 anticlockwise from J11 A320 St Peters Way (Chertsey) to J10 A3 (Wisley Interchange). The congestion reached J12 on the M3, according to the AA website.
Travel news service INRIX said: "Stationary traffic due to all traffic being temporarily held and accident, car and van involved on M25 anticlockwise from Junction 11 A320 St Peter’s Way (Chertsey) to Junction 10 A3 (Wisley Interchange).”
Highways England confirmed the M25 on Twitter: "#M25 - #J11/10 - #anti-clockwise - 2 vehicle RTC - blocking one lane - We will keep you updated with progress".
The road was entirely cleared by 9.45am, Highways England said.
After announcing the vehicles involved in the accident had been moved "on hard shoulder", they wrote on Twitter: "It has been all cleared and all lanes are open. Thanks."
INRIX also wrote: "Queuing traffic due to earlier accident, car and van involved on M25 anticlockwise from J11 A320 St Peters Way (Chertsey) to J10 A3 (Wisley Interchange).
"Congestion to J12 M3. All lanes have been reopened.”
It is now known whether the people involved in the road accident had been injured.
But elsewhere on the M25, between Junction 5 and 6, motorists encountered more traffic due to the closure of one lane after a lorry broke down.
Highways England said: "#M25 #clockwise J5 to J6, Lane 1 closure is in place for a broken down lorry needing an offside tyre change. #Trafficofficers on scene."
