ARMED Police have arrested two men after being involved in a stand-off yesterday evening on a north west London street, after reports of a man was in possession of a gun.
Kilburn: Two men seen walking on a rooftop in London area
The Met were alerted to the incident shortly after 5pm and confirmed two men fled to the roof of a building on Kingsgate Road in Kilburn. Shocking footage emerged yesterday of the two suspects pacing on top of the roof of several terraced houses. The two men dressed in dark tracksuits could be seen causing damage and hurling objects including what appeared to be rooftiles at police below.
One of the men could be seen shouting and aggressively waving his arms.
The National Police Air Service confirmed the situation had been brought under control in a tweet early this morning.
It said: "Glad to confirm the incident in Kilburn has been safely concluded.
"Two men are in custody and enquiries will be ongoing.
"Cordons will be removed in due course."
A witness told MailOnline: "Apparently it is a suspected burglary gone wrong and when police approached them they got up on the roof and started ripping off roof tiles and throwing them at the police."
It is also understood a number of residents were evacuated from their homes for their own safety.
Police initially deployed two police helicopters as back-up and cordoned off the area from the public.
Reports suggests more than a dozen police officers were called to the scene with negotiations continuing all evening.
Police said the two men were first seen “tampering with a motorcycle“ on Mazemot Avenue.

Another added: "Heavily equipped armed police now."
A spokesman for the Met said: “At 5:11pm on March 26 police observed two males seen tampering with a motorcycle in Mazemot Avenue, NW6.
“They were challenged by police and fled, making their way onto the roof of a nearby building in Kingsgate Road, where they currently remain.

“This has not yet been confirmed. Specialist firearms officers are in attendance as a precaution."
