Muslim convert JAILED for 15 years for plotting ‘spectacular’ Oxford Street terror attack
A MUSLIM convert has been caged for life for potting a “spectacular” terror attack on London’s Oxford Street.
Lewis Ludlow jailed for life for planning London terror attack
Lewis Ludlow, nicknamed "The Eagle", has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 15 years for planning the horror attack. He was sentenced today at the Old Bailey. He had planned to kill 100 shoppers and said ISIS instructed him to commit the act.
The court heard the 27-year-old from Rochester, Kent, targeted Oxford Street to make the British people "pay in their blood".
Judge Nicholas Hilliard QC said he was satisfied that Ludlow was "engaged in preparations to launch a spectacular multi victim attack".
He added: ”Multiple deaths were risked and very likely to be caused.”
Ludlow pleaded guilty to preparing acts of terrorism at a hearing in August.
His plan to plough a van into a colossal crowd in the central London tourist spot was foiled when police stopped him at Heathrow Airport when he tried to board a plane to the Philippines.
Ludlow first came to the attention of Counter Terrorism Police when he was pictured at an event led by radical preacher Anjem Choudary and his banned Al-Muhajiroun (ALM) group in 2010.
He was arrested in 2015 when ISIS material was discovered on his phone and other electronic devices.
he had also set up a Facebook page he called Antique Collections, which was actually being used to send cash to south-east Asia to fund terrorism.
His phone was found abandoned in a drain before being found by detectives.
