Folkestone on LOCKDOWN: Armed police deployed - man seen with weapon
ARMED police have descended on Folkstone amid reports of an “armed man”.
Gun and dog units were seen in Marine Terrace at around 9am.
A cordon was put in place as police dealt with the situation.
But it was later taken down after a 31-year-old man was arrested.
A weapon was also seized.
Police remain on the scene and enquiries are currently ongoing.
A Kent Police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called at 8.29am on Saturday, October 20 2018 to a report of a man being seen with what was believed to be a weapon in Marine Terrace, Folkestone.
"Officers, along with firearms officers attended the scene and a 31-year-old man has been arrested.
"A weapon has been seized and enquiries are ongoing."
They added that were not yet in a position to disclose what the weapon was.
