‘We owe EU NOTHING!’ Britons issue STERN warning for May after EU reject UK's Brexit plan
BRITONS have expressed outrage at Prime Minister Theresa May’s refusal to drop her controversial Chequers proposal, warning that Tories could face “political wilderness for generations” if they do not deliver on Brexit.
Brexit: Britons FURIOUS with EU conduct in deal negotiations
A number of Brits have warned they will reconsider voting for the Conservative Party if the Government does not offer Britain with a full exit from the European Union.
One Hornchurch resident told the BBC’s Today programme: “We was the founders of law and order many many centuries ago and why should we be told by Europeans how to govern? No way.”
Keith Wells, who is President of the Hornchurch and Upminster Conservative association said he may not vote for the Tory Party in the next election.
Mr Wells said: “It makes me think twice. It will make me think twice because I am not happy with the way the Brexit deal is going.”
I don’t see why we should pay them loads of money to leave.
He added: “Let’s not forget we are British. With our backs against the wall we have always survived. Throughout history and true Brits will never go down the wrong road.
“So, we will follow but we might have it hard but nevertheless we will survive in the end and benefit.”
Another person warned the Tory Party will face “political wilderness” if the Prime Minister does not deliver on Brexit. He said: “If it went ahead I feel that the party will be in political wilderness for generations to come.”
Steve Nichols who runs the local vaping shop also ridiculed the EU: “I don’t see why we should pay them loads of money to leave. We paid our debt during the war. We rescued Europe. We owe them nothing.”
Brexiteer Jacob Rees-Mogg urged Conservatives to back his hard Brexit plan during a speech at the Tory Party Conference in Birmingham on Sunday.
Mr Rees-Mogg said the UK should not "fear" walking away from Brexit talks.
The Tory Brexiteer urged the Government to embrace the prospect of a hard Brexit by refusing to "a single penny" of the EU's divorce bill.
Mr Rees-Mogg said a move would help the least well off in Britain, and he insisted it was all legally justifiable.
Outlining his plan the MP said: "There is £40billion of your hard earned money going to the European Union which we save.
"There's a brilliant report by the House of Lords from March last year with a committee mainly of Remainers saying the legal position is absolutely clear.
Brexit: We’ll make success of it whatever the outcome says May
"If we leave on World Trade Organisation (WTO) terms we are under no obligation to pay a penny – not a brass farthing.
"We would not owe them anything and we immediately be able to trade with the world."
Former Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson also branded the Chequers agreement as “deranged” and has set out his own “Super-Canada” agreement.
Theresa May claimed on BBC Andrew Marr show she would make a “success” of Brexit “regardless” of whatever exit deal the UK agrees with the Brussels bloc.
Mrs May insisted that she would make a success of leaving the EU regardless of the exit arrangement.
She added: “I am working to get a good deal for the United Kingdom. I am working to ensure we get the best deal for the United Kingdom.”
