Barnsley stabbing: Town centre on lockdown after knife attack
Abdul Razzaq, 43, had just set up his clothes stall in Barnsley when the 6ft woman pulled out the knife just after 8am.
He told her: "Don't touch anybody. Kill me but don't touch my people. Keep that attack for me."
As shoppers scattered in panic, Mr Razzaq gave chase as she marched through the shopping area brandishing the foot-long kitchen knife.
The trader, who has run his stall on Peel Square for more than 15 years, told how he saw the woman produce the knife.
I ran for this lady and she was saying 'kill, kill, kill'.
He said: "I ran for this lady and she was saying 'kill, kill, kill'.
Everybody was scared. Everybody ran. I said 'you're a terrorist'.
"And she said 'I'm no terrorist'. I said 'you're a terrorist because you do this'. I said 'why do you attack the people?' And she just said 'kill people, kill people'."
As he followed her she repeatedly shouted as shoppers fled in panic and the town was put in lock down.
Mr Razzaq said he pointed her out to police and she threw the knife as she was overpowered.
Flower stallholder Craig Ward, 42, added: "She was walking past and threw her bag on the floor then pulled the knife out and started chasing a bloke up Market Hill. She was screaming 'kill, kill, kill'.
"It was very frightening to see a woman running around with a knife."
South Yorkshire police confirmed a woman was arrested and one man suffered minor injuries. Mr Razzaq was not wounded.
