DISEMBOWELLED: Teen’s intestines spill onto street as FOUR knifed in Camberwell stabbing
A TEENAGER was disembowelled and eye-witnesses watched his intestines and internal organs spilled out onto the pavement as London’s knife crime carnage took a hideous new turn today. The frenzied stab-attack in Camberwell, south-east London saw FOUR men rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
Camberwell: Police cordon off estate following stabbing
The stabbings took place in broad daylight outside Landor House, close to the Elmington Estate area, according to Scotland Yard.
Police officers and paramedics were called to the scene shortly before 5:30pm on Thursday, with the victims taken to hospital for treatment.
The crime scene was reported to be littered with bloodied clothing and medical equipment.
The victims of the stabbing have not been named, while six men have been arrested in connection with the attack.
Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service
A witness described one of the victims as having one of his internal organs “falling on the ground”, and another described cries for “help” as the scene unfolded yesterday evening.
They reported: “Ten minutes before the stabbing I saw a whole heap of youths run down that way.
“Later I heard people shouting and bawling out the back there.”
It became clear there had been a stabbing with horrible injuries. They continued: “When I looked round the back there, I saw the youth come running from the block.
“He came to the corner and dropped.
“He was holding his belly and all of his intestines were falling on the ground.”
Camberwell: Witness says he often sees similar incidents
Another witness described the scene saying: “All of a sudden I could hear, ‘Help, help’.
“I have walked up and as I did I have seen the police running.
“One of the police officers got a first aid bag and I saw one of the boys lying on the floor.”
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "Police were called at 5:24pm to playing fields outside Landor House, Camberwell, following reports of a stabbing.
"Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service. Four males were found suffering from stab wounds.
"They have all been taken to south London hospitals.
Superintendent Annmarie Cowley of Southwark police said: “This incident is in its very early stages and at present we cannot speculate on what the nature of the incident may be.
“Four males are in hospital and at this stage we cannot say how serious their injuries are.
“It is beyond comprehension.
“What we can say for certain is if there needs to be an example of the utter senselessness of knife crime, then this is it.”
Cressida Dick on knife crime: It is a horrible phenomenon
Harriet Harman, MP for Camberwell and Peckham, said she was "very concerned" by the incident and is in contact with police and councillors.
Passer-by Chris Hardley, 24, posted an image of police cars on Camberwell Road as officers placed a cordon around the crime scene.
He told Sky News: "You can't see much from the road as the scene was deeper inside the estate.
"There were armed police circling the area in unmarked BMW X5s and an air ambulance took off nearby.
"There is certainly a problem with stabbings in the area and it was only last month that a guy got stabbed to death around the corner."
