You’re daft but we love you, grandchildren tell I'm A Celeb Michael Buerk
BROADCAST Michael Buerk got a shock last night as the I’m A Celebrity contestants received letters from loved ones.
The veteran news reader in the jungle last night, reading letters with camp mates
He had said his rumoured £150,000 fee for going into the jungle would provide his grandchildren with a leg up in life.
But he might be having second thoughts after they wrote: “We think you’re really daft and plonkerish doing this thing.”
But they did add: “We are still very proud of you. You were so brave doing skydiving. Although you’re being a dope, we still love you.”
The celebrities who had fought back tears as they received the bundle of letters, fell about laughing.
And former TV newsreader Michael, 68, said: “Well that’s great, isn’t it? “Everybody else gets ‘You’re doing wonderfully’ and all this kind of stuff.”
Actress Vicki Michelle, 63, described the TV jungle as a “magical place”, saying the relationship between the celebrities had been like “being married for two weeks”.
Michael added: “I’ll miss the company, which surprises me, because I didn’t imagine I would.
I imagined I’d be loathing all of you by now.” Last night he and Vicki triumphed in their first Bushtucker Trial, earning seven meals for camp.
