Ridley Scott opens up about agony of brother's suicide
Filmmaker SIR RIDLEY SCOTT has spoken of his pain following the "inexplicable" death of his brother.
Tony Scott, who directed films including Top Gun and Beverly Hills Cop II, committed suicide in 2012 after a long battle with brain cancer.
Ridley has now recalled how he received a frantic call from Tony's wife Donna after he went missing, and the director pinpoints it as the beginning of "the worst weekend of my life".
He tells Variety Magazine, "Tony had been very unwell, actually. That's the moment I realised I had to get very close to him again, though we were always close. Most of all I miss a friend. I'd go to him even when he was doing his recovery. I'd say, 'F**k the chemo, have a vodka Martini', and he and I would go out."
