'I had no doubt whatsoever that we were having a boy': Catherine Tyldesley on pregnancy
IT'S double joy for Coronation Street's Catherine Tyldesley's as not only is she is expecting her first child she is also set to tie the knot with her fiancé Tom Pitfield.
The 31-year-old actress, who is expecting a baby boy next Spring, says she is enjoying experiencing pregnancy with her fellow co-stars Paula Lane and Jennie McAlpine on the Coronation Street set.
In an interview for this week's OK! magazine, she said: “For all three of us it’s our first baby, so we say: ‘Do you get this? Are you craving that?’ It’s really nice we’re all experiencing it together.”
The Corrie beauty also adds: “I had no doubt whatsoever that we were having a boy. It sounds weird but I knew from the moment I found out I was pregnant. When the scan confirmed it, I’ve never seen Tom so happy.”
The star, who plays Eva Price on the ITV soap, also opened up about her other half's romantic proposal in Venice last month.
She revealed: “We found ourselves on a bridge looking over Venice, near St Marks Square, which was quiet and perfect.
"I’d taken the ring with us, which I’d wrapped up like a parcel. I got it out and said: ‘I want you to open this.’”
Catherine adds: “I couldn’t stop crying and said yes through my tears! I’m an emotional wreck anyway at the moment. We stayed at that bridge for hours taking pictures. We’re keeping a bottle of champagne for after the birth.”
Speaking about their whirlwind romance, Catherine says: “No one’s been shocked at how quickly we’ve moved because people can see how happy we are. People say when you meet The One you just know.
'I’ve thought, it doesn’t happen like that, but three months in I knew.”
She adds: “We never argue. He makes me laugh until I cry!”
The couple have also started discussing their wedding plans, with Catherine revealing: “We haven’t set a date or booked a venue yet – we’ll have the baby first – but we’ve spoken about bits and bobs.
"We both said it would be better when the baby’s at least a year old because we want our son to be a part of our wedding day.”
She adds: “I’m having bridesmen – Antony Cotton and his partner Peter Ecclestone – who are already deciding on outfits. We’ll keep it local and traditional.”
