Michael McIntyre walks off stage at sold out show after woman kept using her phone
COMEDIAN Michael McIntyre walked off stage during a sold-out show because a member of the audience on the front row kept using her mobile phone, it has emerged.
The floppy-haired star is said to have asked security to "sort it out" as he left the stage promising the audience a Darlington's Civic Theatre that he would be right back.
According to reports, fans were chanting for the woman to be thrown out resulting in security staff talking to her.
The 38-year-old proceeded to carry on with the show, with fans taking to their Twitter pages after to apologise for the woman's antics.
"Great show in Darlington tonight… sorry about the idiot in the front row. You handled her perfectly," wrote one.
While another added: "You were absolutely fantastic my face cheeks are hurting. Sorry about the idiot front row."
McIntyre isn't the only big star to have halted a show after becoming annoyed by someone tapping away on their mobile though.
Oscar-winner Kevin Spacey had to reprimand an audience member when their phone rang out during a one-man show at London's Old Vic in June.
During Clarence Darrow, he called out: "If you don't answer that, I will!" for which he received a round of applause.
Video footage of Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig's reaction to a phone call spoiling their Broadway show, A Steady Rain, in 2009 also became an internet hit, with Jackman urging the person to answer the phone.
"Don't be embarrassed, just grab the phone," he said.
