Monthy Python's John Cleese jokes English winters may shed years off his life
MONTHY PYTHON star John Cleese fears his move back to frosty England may take years off his life.
“The weather is very nice at the moment but I don’t know how many winters I will survive at my age,” said the 73-year-old actor. “An English winter is like the First World War – you wonder if it will ever end!”
The funnyman, who voices a character in new Disney animated film Planes, lived in Santa Barbara, California, for many years then briefly relocated to Monaco for tax reasons before settling back in London this year.
He told the Los Angeles Times that the move to the UK with fourth wife Jennifer, 41, was prompted by professional and personal matters.
“It was a culmination of reasons. It meant I could spend a lot of time with my daughter Cynthia. Also I was getting so much work from the rest of the world that it wasn’t necessary for me to be in America.”
