Queen Elizabeth's favourite Christmas film was completely unexpected
The late monarch reportedly enjoyed watching the film with her grandchildren.

The festive season is a time for reflection, good food, family, presents and, of course, Christmas movies. Up and down the UK, households will no doubt be enjoying Christmas films that are among the most beloved, whether that be Elf, Home Alone, Love Actually, or The Holiday.
While members of the Royal Family probably enjoy these films too, they weren’t Queen Elizabeth II’s favourite Christmas movies. Instead, it is believed she liked Flash Gordon.
This is a film the late monarch reportedly enjoyed watching at Christmas time with her grandchildren.

Actor Brian Blessed, who plays Prince Vultan in the film, once told Yahoo Movies some time ago: "The Queen, it’s her favourite film, she watches it with her grandchildren every Christmas."
He said that the late Queen said to him: "You know, we watch Flash Gordon all the time, me and the grandchildren.
“And if you don’t mind, I’ve got the grandchildren here, would you mind saying 'Gordon’s alive'?"

It is not known which of Her Majesty’s grandchildren she enjoyed watching the movie with.
However, it is believed they would watch it at Sandringham over the Christmas period.
It is not known whether this is a tradition that has continued since the late Queen’s death in September 2022.
